Dream Interpretation – Why Do Specific People Come In Our Dreams?

Most dreams are with people in it. These could be people who we meet daily like our family and friends, or they could be people we haven't met in a very long time. 

Sometimes we have dreams about people we never think we would ever dream about, our building janitor for example.

Why do these people come in our dreams? What relevance do they have? There are several explanations.

1. When people we meet daily make their appearance in our dreams, it means that we are thinking about them. The thought may be negative or positive; but if our mind is active thinking about these persons, it will reflect these thoughts when the mind is in the subconscious state of a dream.

2. People from our past show up in our dreams sometimes without any apparent reason. It could be the boy who used to sit next to you in third grade and you never saw him since. Why do these people appear?

Mostly it is some thought that triggers their memory. For example, if someone happens to read a third grade poem somewhere, it might connect to the thought of the boy who was in the third grade.

3. A similar logic applies when we see people who we do not think about much in our waking hours. But there can be a connection here. For example, if the dream has a grocer, it could be because we were thinking about our supplies running out and needing to visit the grocer's shop.

4. There is also a possibility that mystery people come in our dreams sometimes. There is an explanation for this too. Usually, these mystery people are personifications for some phobia or even strong desire that is in our mind.

However, many things about dreams are still to be understood. These explanations cannot rationalize all the types of dreams that we get, but if one is interested in dream interpretation, these can act as pointers.
